Painting The Day Away

Everybody should have a friend. Brush mix! Clouds have form and shape and life and are interesting, they're not just ol' dull clouds.

Maybe this is the same cloud. Talent is nothing more than a pursued interest. You really cannot make a mistake here.

Let me tell you what I've got going on up here. (chuckles) Just beat the devil out of it. Don't just cover it all up -- leave these spots!

Everybody has their own idea of what a mountain should look like. Take your time and play with these things. It takes very little color.

See? I knew you could do it! I want to do something that's just a little bit different, and I think you'll find it's fun. Just any old thing that'll stick to the canvas.

Just let it sort of flow. Do you want to get crazy? All we want to leave is the value in the canvas.

That's the fun part of this whole technique. You could sit there with your one-haired brush for a week trying to do that, or you can do it in one stroke with an almighty brush! You can create any illusion that you can conceive in your mind.

Isn't life wonderful? Looks like there's a storm coming already. Of course he's a happy little stone; we don't have any other kind!

Painting offers freedom. You do it the way that you want it. Everybody needs to sing in the sunshine!

Blend color right here on the canvas. If you've been in Alaska for less than a year, you're a cheechako! It's cold, but it's beautiful.

We don't care. Use a color that's a little more muted and quiet. Let's have a big cloud!

We use darkness to make those colors stand out! If you learn to make one tree, you can make a million trees. No use stopping, we're so much fun here with these trees!

Chickens need a place to live too. When I finally got to Alaska, whew boy, I just went crazy It's easy to add more color, but it's a son of a gun to take it away.

Look at your painting and make a decision. Let's go on up here and let's get started. If we make a boo-boo, it's right here -- but that's alright, because we don't make mistakes in our world.

Don't want to set these clouds on fire. All these little things make it interesting. We don't know where that goes -- it doesn't matter at this point.
